At Lewis Jackson Health & Safety, we’re proud to be supporting Design Build UK Ltd with their delivery of a brand-new changing room block for Coed Eva AFC at The Birches, Pontnewydd.
This project, funded through the Football Association (FA) and backed by Torfaen County Borough Council, is a vital investment in grassroots football, providing modern, safe, and inclusive facilities for players and the local community.
Our Role
Our responsibility was to prepare a detailed Method Statement and Risk Assessment (RAMS) to ensure the works are carried out safely and in line with both:
Torfaen County Borough Council construction requirements, and
Football Association / Football Foundation facility standards.
By meeting these dual standards, the project not only achieves compliance but also delivers facilities designed for long-term, inclusive community use.
Key Safety Considerations
Public Protection: The Birches is a residential area, so site fencing, secure compounds, and strict delivery management are in place.
Environmental Controls: Dust suppression, noise management, and biodiversity measures, including the installation of bat and bird boxes, ensure the project respects the surrounding environment.
Safe Construction: From demolition and excavations to roofing, fit-out, and drainage, all stages have been risk-assessed with robust controls.
Community Impact
This project will give Coed Eva AFC a facility that meets the needs of modern grassroots football, while also demonstrating how safety, compliance, and community value can be delivered hand-in-hand
